A couple of model updates

Greetings all,
My apologies for the delayed update, things went a bit topsy-turvey at the end of the week.

Tomorrow night (the 18th) we’ll be having a male/female model session with two new models, Jodie and Yves (well, for us, they have both modelled before, over in Melbourne and overseas). Sebastian will also be running the session for me as I’m afraid I cannot make it in.

The following week we’ll be having a double female session (models still to be confirmed, but it will most like be a new model with a returning one).

The week after that is June 1st, WA Day, and we’ll be having a session that night! Our first ever public holiday session. Jules will be running the session for me as I’ll be out of town, and the model for the night will be Ashlea.

I hope some of you took advantage of the stamp offer for Sebastian’s Tuesday night sessions, just remember that it will continue through till the end of June.

Happy drawing folks!
– Christopher

A model update, info on drawing sessions at The Art Space Collective and some pictures

Greetings all,

We had an incredibly great turnout this week with our new model Aya, so thank you for that everyone! Next week (the 11th) we’ll be having in Nicola.

The Art Space Collective at 80A Scarborough Beach Rd Has a heap of drawing classes on this month:

  • 14th May 10-12pm
  • 19th May 7-9pm
  • 21st May 10-12pm and 7-9pm (Drawing Theatre)
  • 28th May 10-12pm

They’ve also changed their session rates; $20 per session, but two people rocking up together pay $30 (so $15 each).

And pictures from the sessions when we had in Jane and Aya:

A model update and yet another holiday?

Greetings all,
Just a quick note for the weekend that our session on Monday will now be a clothed model session (our first for the year) with Jane, as our pervious model had to unfortunately cancel. I’m not sure what outfit Jane will be wearing this time, but given her previous outfits (jungle girl, steam punk, burlesque and 1960s stewardess) I’m quite sure she won’t disappoint.

The following Monday (the 20th) will be a male/female session with Kieran and Leah.

And lastly, there will be no session on the 27th due to ANZAC day. Which from our perspective unfortunately makes April quite a short month.

Cheerio all!

Drawing classes in Subiaco

Greetings, I am often asked about instructed drawing sessions (that is, one with a teacher) happening in Perth. Well, I just learnt about a portraiture workshop today that starts next week (April 8th to be precise) and runs for a few weeks.
The instructor is Rachelle Dusting, a former classmate of mine, and has an Bachelor of Fine Arts, Honours degree. Her area of focus is portraiture work, and she is a sessional Workshop Coordinator for UWAs drawing units. Both of these understandably make her great for teaching this workshop.
The flyer below has all the details as well as her contact details. Spaces are almost filled so if you want in better contact her sooner rather than later.

Drawn Life Exhibition 2015 Roundup

We had our annual exhibition (this year titles Drawn Life) in early March, and it looked fantastic (also, just figured out the new WordPress method of inserting pics, knew it wouldn’t take me too long)!

A brief model update, reminder and a first in a long time… Pictures!

Greetings all,
Just an update that the session tonight will now be a double session with Ashlea from the Curtin Tuesday night sessions being added to the bill.
A reminder that there will be no session next Monday, April 6th, due to the holiday. When we come back on the 13th, we’ll be having new-for-us Molly in, along with a rare treat with Victoria coming in (as she is mostly off of the circuit nowadays).

And now for the first in a long time, pictures from last weeks session (I’m rusty at the picture inserting thing, I’ll remember how to insert them cleanly later this week. UPDATE: I figured it out!):

A model update and a holiday

Greetings all!
We’ve been having a great turnout of late, so thank you all for that!

This coming Monday (tomorrow night) will be a male/ female session, with a first for us: a 55 year old woman (Rebecca, who we haven’t had in before) with a 30 year old man (Travis, who we have had in quite a few times before). Every other time it’s been the other way around for us.

The following week (the 30th), we have a new model from Germany in by the name of Mirjam.

On April 6th there will be no session as it will be a public holiday, so we’ll be back the week after that.

Cheers

No session, a model update, and our annual exhibition!

Greetings all!

First up, there is no session this coming Monday (the 2nd) thanks to it being a public holiday.

When we come back on the 9th, we’ll be having new for us Martha, along with new to Perth from France, Jeanne. Yes, a surprise double session! Though not so much a surprise now that I’ve just revealed it…

Next up, we have our annual show this coming Friday at 6pm! Feel free to come on out for a drink and to look at some artworks. It’s in the Cullity Gallery, which is located on the ground floor of the tall building right next to where we have our drawing sessions!

And lastly, The Art Space Collective in Scarborough is doing a special this month where a friend can join you for free at their drawing sessions on Thursday mornings, which basically makes it half price if you two share the costs!

Life drawing everywhere!

Hello all!

So a few updates about our own group, and some of the other ones in the city.

First up, incoming models! Three new models over the next three weeks:
February 16 – Xanthea, a classical dance trained street statue performer.
February 23 – Peter, a Norwegian/Indonesian student of Vovinam (a Vietnamese martial arts).
March 2 – Martha, a red headed model that comes highly recommended by some members of our group.

Our exhibition:
I have confirmed this week that our opening night will be March 6th, with the show running through to the following weekend. We start setting up on March 4th, and we take down the 14th. As with previous years, you can put up as much as you like and set your own sale price, just keep in mind that the gallery keeps 10% (which is quite measly for any of you with gallery experience). I’ll be making up a flyer for early next week for everyone to distribute if they’d like.

Other venues!
The Bassendean group has changed both venues and days. They are now on Monday mornings (as opposed to Tuesdays) and are now located at the Basso Community Hall (same time of 9:30-12:30, and price of $15).

The Art Space Collective is a new centre in Scarborough. They run sessions on Thursday mornings, Tuesday evenings (with lights and props and such), and over the next two Wednesdays I’ve been asked to run drawing classes there (instructed, three hours each day from 9:30-12:30, with a model for the final two hours). You can find out more about them on http://www.theartspacecollective.com or their Facebook page.

Happy drawing everyone!
