A model update for a fantastical session!

Greetings all! We’re coming close to the end of the year for us, and to celebrate we have a pretty awesome session coming up this Monday.

Our models will be the fantastic Xanthea and Martha. They will pose nude for the first hour, and for the second Xanthea will do a series of short poses as she gets into her living statue attire before ending on a 20min pose in full garb. And while she’s getting dressed, Martha will be rocking a 1920s garb for two 20min poses and ending on two 10min poses in what will be our final clothed session for the year.

All that, plus, Kensingtons and Iced Vovos!

Cheers – Christopher

A model update all over the place

Greetings all!

This coming Monday over at UWA we’ll be having in the living statue herself, Xanthea, along with newish to Perth from Canada, Bonnie (I say newish as she was modelling down in Margaret River for a couple of months).

On Sunday, the Drawing School will be having in the lovely Jodie. Even though she is new to the field of life modelling, was actually able to hold her own with quite well with the pro Jane when we had the two of them in a few weeks ago.

Speaking of Sunday, Erwin has informers me that he is no longer running his sessions on Sundays. That being said, his Thursday night sessions are starting back up this coming Thursday (the 14th) with the start time of 6:30pm. The model he’ll be having that night is the always awesome Martha. For those of you looking for a session with longer poses, you should certainly check them out (all the details are on the Thursday page).

Happy drawing, people!

A model update and a heck of a lot of news about town

Greetings all!

There is a lot of news to cover this week, so I will just quickly let everyone know that Nin will be our model for this coming Monday (the 14th) at UWA. The session may start a few minutes late to allow for him to make it over from work.

Next, it looks like my loyalty card idea is really taking off with two other groups having cards having systems of their own!

First is the Drawing School with Tracey, which is happening again tomorrow evening (the 13th) with the wonderful Martha as their model. Remember that through till the end of September (so the next two sessions) you can also get the card from my own sessions stamped.

Secondly is Thursday nights at The Art Space Collective, which now have their own loyalty card (though I need to look into if this replaces the bring a friend and pay $5 less system that they had before). Through till the end of September, head on out and get yourself a stamp for my own group too at the same time. And you really should go as this coming Thursday they have the fabulous Hayley who is virtually unavailable anymore due to her allowing her work and life to take over her schedule of modelling.

Combine these two with Sebastian’s Tuesday night group at Mt. Hawthorn which you can get stamps at up till the end of September, and those things really add up! Come on people, the seasons they are a changing so now is a good time to get out there! Don’t have a Monday night @ UWA card? Then come on out for a session and pick one up!

Speaking of Thursdays (well, two paragraphs back), Ray’s sessions at his studio in Craigie have moved from Thursday to Friday mornings 10-1. I’ll be updating the Thursday and Friday pages soon to reflect this, plus the fact he has a model coming in from over seas for a limited engagement.

And last but not least, one of our former models (who is dearly missed) and absolutely amazing portrait artist, Tess, is having a group exhibition opening soon. For a preview head to tessamconie.com.au. Details:

  • Opens: Friday 2nd October @ 6pm
  • Exhibition runs from the 3rd Oct – 2nd Nov, 2015
  • Heathcote Museum & Gallery, 58 – 60 Duncraig Rd  Perth, WA

Man that was a lot. Get out there and keep drawing (naked) people!

A model switcheroo

Greetings all,

Just a quick update as to a change in the model line up tomorrow night, as Nicola is unfortunately no longer to make it in. So we will instead be having in Eila to accompany Martha for the session.

Also, cause I don’t think I’ve mentioned it on here, I started having coffee and tea for people during the session. I figure that should make the cooler nights more bearable.

Cheerio

No session, a model update, and our annual exhibition!

Greetings all!

First up, there is no session this coming Monday (the 2nd) thanks to it being a public holiday.

When we come back on the 9th, we’ll be having new for us Martha, along with new to Perth from France, Jeanne. Yes, a surprise double session! Though not so much a surprise now that I’ve just revealed it…

Next up, we have our annual show this coming Friday at 6pm! Feel free to come on out for a drink and to look at some artworks. It’s in the Cullity Gallery, which is located on the ground floor of the tall building right next to where we have our drawing sessions!

And lastly, The Art Space Collective in Scarborough is doing a special this month where a friend can join you for free at their drawing sessions on Thursday mornings, which basically makes it half price if you two share the costs!

Life drawing everywhere!

Hello all!

So a few updates about our own group, and some of the other ones in the city.

First up, incoming models! Three new models over the next three weeks:
February 16 – Xanthea, a classical dance trained street statue performer.
February 23 – Peter, a Norwegian/Indonesian student of Vovinam (a Vietnamese martial arts).
March 2 – Martha, a red headed model that comes highly recommended by some members of our group.

Our exhibition:
I have confirmed this week that our opening night will be March 6th, with the show running through to the following weekend. We start setting up on March 4th, and we take down the 14th. As with previous years, you can put up as much as you like and set your own sale price, just keep in mind that the gallery keeps 10% (which is quite measly for any of you with gallery experience). I’ll be making up a flyer for early next week for everyone to distribute if they’d like.

Other venues!
The Bassendean group has changed both venues and days. They are now on Monday mornings (as opposed to Tuesdays) and are now located at the Basso Community Hall (same time of 9:30-12:30, and price of $15).

The Art Space Collective is a new centre in Scarborough. They run sessions on Thursday mornings, Tuesday evenings (with lights and props and such), and over the next two Wednesdays I’ve been asked to run drawing classes there (instructed, three hours each day from 9:30-12:30, with a model for the final two hours). You can find out more about them on http://www.theartspacecollective.com or their Facebook page.

Happy drawing everyone!
