An end of year update!

Greetings all,I hope this time of year hasn’t been stressing you all out too much.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for coming out to the UWA sessions on Monday nights over the past year. I hope you all have enjoyed it. And as always, if you haven’t, please let me now what I can do to improve it.

As I mentioned in the last session for the year a couple of weeks ago, we’ll be coming back on Feb 4th. A bit far away I know but I’ll be out of the country for almost all of January.

Also, for those of you who didn’t immediately rush to pencil that in (and seriously, why wouldn’t you?) and notice the oddness of the date, starting next year we’ll be moving to Thursdays. This is on account of my no longer being available on Mondays (because I got stingy and decided to finally stop the freelancing scene and get myself a permanent desk job for three days a week). I do know that this will conflict for some of you, and it’ll be unfortunate to not get you in again, but it was either that or cancel them altogether!

And that’s it. Have a happy and safe holiday season everyone!

P.S: Don’t forget, if you still have the drawing itch over the holidays, check out Graham’s drawing group in Atwell on Sundays as it’s running through the break with two models for each session)

Best regards – Christopher

Final model update and a big whoops!

Greetings all, Firstly, an incredibly huge apology for forgetting to post about the session we had this week! It was a great one with the delightful Amy and new for us (and first time back after a 20 year hiatus, bodybuilder Shaun. Thankfully we still had a great turnout!

We also had a fantastic turnout the week before. Now I’m not sure if it was because it was Xanthea and Martha, or because it was a clothed session. Regardless it was crazy, and I will make sure to have more of all of that next year!

For our final session on the 14th, well, I didn’t think I could top the wonderful duos we have had of late, but I may have just done so (or at the least tied), as we will be having in the lovely Victoria and the awesome Hayley! I am personally happy to have Hayley in as she is no longer available on Monday nights, so it has been quite awhile for us.

So that’s it, just on more session for us this year!

On that note, before I forget; for those interested the Sunday group at Atwell is going to continue running through out the holiday season. Check out the Sunday section for more details, but basically they are now regularly having in two models per session, and have one doing a long pose whilst the other does shorter poses. Pretty cool I must say.

Cheers – Christopher

A model update for a fantastical session!

Greetings all! We’re coming close to the end of the year for us, and to celebrate we have a pretty awesome session coming up this Monday.

Our models will be the fantastic Xanthea and Martha. They will pose nude for the first hour, and for the second Xanthea will do a series of short poses as she gets into her living statue attire before ending on a 20min pose in full garb. And while she’s getting dressed, Martha will be rocking a 1920s garb for two 20min poses and ending on two 10min poses in what will be our final clothed session for the year.

All that, plus, Kensingtons and Iced Vovos!

Cheers – Christopher

The end is near!

Only four more sessions with Life drawing @ UWA on Monday nights left for the year, which is just crazy to think about! This coming Monday we are having in new to the scene, Karen, along with the burlesque dancer, Jodie.

And we’re not the only ones getting close to wrapping up as tomorrow (Sunday 22nd) is the last Drawing School session with Tracy at Lazy Susan’s in the Brisbane Hotel. By request they are having back in the flamenco dancer from a couple of months ago, Sofia, for a clothed session which sounds fantastic! As an added bonus, if you head on out give Tracy your card from my group and earn yourself one more bonus stamp for the year.

Cheerio!

A model update for Monday night @ UWA

Greetings all!

We had a great double session last week with Xanthea and newish-to-Perth, Bonnie!

Over the next couple of weeks we’ll be having solo sessions with:

  • The wonderful Rebecca on October 19th
  • Tiny Leah will be joining us on the 26th
  • The elusive Lucy on November 2nd (seriously, she has been hard to track down lately)
  • November 9th will feature new to our group Ebony, for a session being run by Jules for the night (thanks Jules!). This also means that there will be no coffee or tea for the night as Jules will not be able to access the urn that we use.

Cheerio all!

A model update all over the place

Greetings all!

This coming Monday over at UWA we’ll be having in the living statue herself, Xanthea, along with newish to Perth from Canada, Bonnie (I say newish as she was modelling down in Margaret River for a couple of months).

On Sunday, the Drawing School will be having in the lovely Jodie. Even though she is new to the field of life modelling, was actually able to hold her own with quite well with the pro Jane when we had the two of them in a few weeks ago.

Speaking of Sunday, Erwin has informers me that he is no longer running his sessions on Sundays. That being said, his Thursday night sessions are starting back up this coming Thursday (the 14th) with the start time of 6:30pm. The model he’ll be having that night is the always awesome Martha. For those of you looking for a session with longer poses, you should certainly check them out (all the details are on the Thursday page).

Happy drawing, people!

Quick update before a big weekend

Greetings all, just a quick update as to our model on Monday, which is Aya!

And if any of you are around the UWA Nedlands campus over the weekend (you know, the place where we do our drawing), then stop on by The ALVA Hub to see this year’s 24 Hour Comic Day Perth event happening. It’s my sixth or so year running it (ninth taking part), so I’m sure I’ll be asleep for most of the drawing session on Monday.

Have a good weekend everyone!

A model update and a session on a holiday

Greetings all,

Tomorrow night (the 21st), we’ll be having Victoria in for the evening.

The following week (the 28th) will be a holiday session, and Jules has been awesome enough to yes to running the session. For that night we’ll be having Amy in for the evening. Please not that there will be no coffee or tea on this night as Jules will not be able to access the urn which we use for this. My apologies to everybody for that.

Cheerio!

A model update and a heck of a lot of news about town

Greetings all!

There is a lot of news to cover this week, so I will just quickly let everyone know that Nin will be our model for this coming Monday (the 14th) at UWA. The session may start a few minutes late to allow for him to make it over from work.

Next, it looks like my loyalty card idea is really taking off with two other groups having cards having systems of their own!

First is the Drawing School with Tracey, which is happening again tomorrow evening (the 13th) with the wonderful Martha as their model. Remember that through till the end of September (so the next two sessions) you can also get the card from my own sessions stamped.

Secondly is Thursday nights at The Art Space Collective, which now have their own loyalty card (though I need to look into if this replaces the bring a friend and pay $5 less system that they had before). Through till the end of September, head on out and get yourself a stamp for my own group too at the same time. And you really should go as this coming Thursday they have the fabulous Hayley who is virtually unavailable anymore due to her allowing her work and life to take over her schedule of modelling.

Combine these two with Sebastian’s Tuesday night group at Mt. Hawthorn which you can get stamps at up till the end of September, and those things really add up! Come on people, the seasons they are a changing so now is a good time to get out there! Don’t have a Monday night @ UWA card? Then come on out for a session and pick one up!

Speaking of Thursdays (well, two paragraphs back), Ray’s sessions at his studio in Craigie have moved from Thursday to Friday mornings 10-1. I’ll be updating the Thursday and Friday pages soon to reflect this, plus the fact he has a model coming in from over seas for a limited engagement.

And last but not least, one of our former models (who is dearly missed) and absolutely amazing portrait artist, Tess, is having a group exhibition opening soon. For a preview head to tessamconie.com.au. Details:

  • Opens: Friday 2nd October @ 6pm
  • Exhibition runs from the 3rd Oct – 2nd Nov, 2015
  • Heathcote Museum & Gallery, 58 – 60 Duncraig Rd  Perth, WA

Man that was a lot. Get out there and keep drawing (naked) people!

A model update and a change in format for a week

Greetings all!We had a crazy busy night last Monday. Super crazy. Which was great to see. Especially as we had an impromptu clothed session with Nicola gracing us with her Wonder Woman costume and a burlesque outfit, alongside Molly who is seven months pregnant (we may try to get her in one more time before she is due).

This coming Monday (the 1st) we’ll be having in Leah, who haven’t had in in awhile now.

The following week we’ll be having something a bit different. Two models, Jane plus newcomer Jodie (who just recently joined the scene from what I understand, but takes part in a great deal of cabaret dancing). One will be clothed for the first hour while the second is nude, then vice-versa for the second hour. We’ll also be trying a different format time-wise. For the first hour the format will be: 2x5min, 3x10min, 1x20min. Then we’re going to repeat that for the second hour as well. Let’s see how that works out!

A reminder that the Drawing School is on again this Sunday (look at the Sunday tab for all the info)!

And one last reminder that the Tuesday night at Curtin has switched rooms (Tuesday tab for all the info).

Happy drawing everyone!
