Workshop: Facial Approximation Daytime Labs Balcatta SHS May 18 & 21

Greetings,

Sorry I haven’t done any updates on the blog of late but my internet is acting up something fierce and I am having extreme difficulty getting anything through (which also explains who terrible this post looks too).

Anyway, I just found out about a workshop that some of you may be interested being run by Susan Hayes, whom I actually started the life drawings sessions at UWA with over two years ago now. She’s doing two more facial reconstruction seminar and these will be her last in quite some time as she’s moved over East. One is a 3D workshop, which is actually done using clay over a replica skull, the second will be a 2D workshop. I did the 3D one a couple of years ago (and it’s what led Sue and I to start the life drawing sessions) and it was quite fascinating. The flyer with full details is below in a PDF format.

Anyone interested would be best off contacting Sue directly on her mobile at 0408 784 512 (though her email is an option and it is suehayesATuow.edu.au [change the ‘AT’ to a ‘@’]) Just note that as these are each one day sessions that they will be quite intensive, but I’m sure everyone here would have fun and go home happy.

Anybody wanting to know a bit more about what Sue does can check out an interview with her here (it’s some cool stuff): http://blogs.abc.net.au/wa/2012/05/guess-who-the-art-of-identifying-the-deceased.html?site=perth&program=720_perth_breakfast

A model update

Good evening all,

Just a quick update that the model that was originally booked for tomorrow night has had to cancel due to illness, as such, we will instead be having Nin as our model for the evening.
The following week (April 30th), we’ll be having Jane as our model.

One last reminder

Hello all, just a last reminder that there is no life drawing session tomorrow night (April 9th) due the whole ‘it being a holiday thing’. We’ll be back with Kieran on the 16th though.

I also noticed that I haven’t been putting up any images from the last couple of sessions. I’ll correct that mistake and put those up this week.

Blackout dates

Good evening all, just a reminder that there is no session tomorrow night (the 19th), but we will be back the following week.

I also was just recently reminded of Easter Monday on April 9th, so that will be another night without a session (sorry about that, but the crowd is just too small on public holidays to warrant running a session, not to mention public transit is a joke on those days).

Plenty of pretty pictures

We had a great last couple of weeks having Ron and Jasmine in.

With Ron we had the musical accompaniment of Led Zeppelin, The Raconteurs and Metronomy. For Jasmine we had Sneaker Pimps, Pivot and Radiohead. Images from the sessions are below.

When we’re back on the 12th, we’ll be having a new model in for our session by the name of Brooke, and on the 26th we’ll be having Kieran.

Reminder: No session on the 5th or 19th

Good evening all, just a reminder that there is no session at UWA tomorrow night (March 5th), nor the 19th.

For those of you wanting to make up for missing out, how about heading over to the Tuesday night session at the King Street Art Centre? 1st floor, just to the left of the steps, from 7-9:30. It’s their first session for the year and they’re having Lindsay as their model (who we have had in numerous times and is a very good model).

Ciao

Things are changing in the East

The regular Midland Junction Art Centre group have changed location! I’ll let Peter explain:

We are now to be found at St Marks Hall, Parker St Basendean 9.30 am on Wednesdays. It is a great venue with lots of parking and space in the hall. So we have decided to combine two sessions to run at the same time, one a portrait/nude 3 hour pose and the other a life drawing session with a variety of pose times. Participants can take their pick as to which part to attend, both in the same room!

Also on Wednesday nights the current MJAC session will now be in operation from 7pm at St Marks.

Portrait and Wednesday evening sessions start on the 29th and Life drawing starts March 14th.

We are hoping that this is a big step forward for life drawers in Perth as, if it works we will also fit in an afternoon session as well.

Thank you for your support .

Peter Efford

And that’s that. Portrait and drawing at the same time? That sounds quite nice.
